Ambassador Ramūnas Katilius (1971-2022)

is one of the first appointed ambassadors of Uzhupis republic

 

He used to sit at the bar of our cafe-parliament in 1997, when it was as large as the bar without all other halls, which were added later. We were discussing fluctuation, and, I recall, were visiting the ArMada festival.

 

Some governemental visits were arranged – to       bar in Antakalnis and our citizens exchange visits daily. You can reach Peter and Paul’s church which is at the border of Antokol (old name of the country) by bus Nr. 34, which is scrolling the upper border of Uzupis.

 

Once, on Naugarduko street, 68 (also a labyrinth of tiny streets and lanes before the war) we with architect Dramblys (Elephant) made a flag of Antakalnis (looked a little bit like Ceylon’s) and were ruminating on the place of it’s Parliament. The outcome was that it should be somewhere in the Klinikas courtyard, or at the same platitude by the river.
